I find Connections Academy to be a wonderful Cyber Charter Educational Experience. If a parent gave Connections a bad review it's because they didn't want to do the work. Connections University goes out of its style to requite its students all the tools they demand to be successful. Still, it is upwards to the learning jitney to be disciplined and responsible making sure their pupil attends live their classes, studies and utilizes all the tools given to them. It's but not for lazy parents or students. You really have to exist disciplined.

After existence put behind by his teachers and being bullied, I pulled my child from his school commune assigned school and into Colorado Connections University. He is brilliant, and flourishing and happy. It's a great alternative likewise to avoid Covid and influenza since many parents send their ill kids to public school all the time. We volition go along with the Colorado Connections Academy courses. We are very pleased with it.

My oldest daughter graduates this month afterward ii years with Connections. She got the opportunity to practice dual enrollment with a country University that I could have never afforded to do for her without connections, information technology was a hard switch as her local school had been a failing school and she started off behind. My youngest is completing her first year every bit a 3rd grader. I did work with her on her schoolhouse work daily as her committed learning coach. She grew so much as a pupil and was eager to do her schoolwork. She was also behind and her teacher put her in minor math and reading groups which she got to piece of work through at her ain pace and motility to the next ready of exercises when she was ready. She is finishing her school twelvemonth with directly A's, a big smiling, and confidence. She's already looking forward to the summer connections and adjacent twelvemonth.

This was our 4th twelvemonth with Oklahoma Connections Academy. We have five children and have now experienced every form level from Kindergarten all the way to a graduated senior. My oldest has now completed his Freshman year of college. OKCA gave the states liberty to be involved in actress-curricular activities such as Oklahoma Homeschool Ring, Homeschool Gymnastics, Martial Arts as well as social activities such as field trips. Before coming to OKCA our students were in a Individual Christian School and and then we moved to a traditional Homeschool setting.

Our conclusion was we wanted to know exactly what our children were being taught and as well wanted a challenging curriculum. Unfortunately the school district nosotros live in does not take stellar public schools. OKCA has been an awesome feel for us. I as a parent dearest that I have the support of teachers, principal and counselors like I would in a traditional school setting, merely have my children abode with me learning. I am able to view exactly what they are learning and likewise assist them understand what they are learning. Please note...for elementary ages this DOES crave parent involvement. I sit down by my 1st grader for near 3-4 hours a day helping her navigate her lessons and and then she does other learning activities independently, like math worksheets, reading, and art projects.

I dear the electives that are offered. Everything from Chess order, foreign languages, computer skills classes and even an ASL class. Nosotros as well love the flexibility this setting provides for our family unit as we tin work ahead so we can have days off, or piece of work their calendars to accommodate our own schedule around physician's appointments, field trips, extra long weekends for quick trips and we accept fifty-fifty gone on vacation during the school year and the kids are able to complete their lessons while away in our downtime.

I have two boys that take attended Connections Academy the last three years. My oldest graduates this yr. It has been a wonderful experience. The teachers are caring, supportive, and helpful. Both boys are dyslexic and I could not think of anything that could have helped them more with accept complete admission to reckoner classes. The IEP teachers are great and do everything they tin to get your student to college. Through the pandemic their education was never contradistinct it stayed strong and that ways our boys' education remained strong and going in the correct direction. The programme is flexible but you lot must stay equally structured as possible and information technology helps with having live lessons with the teachers. Connections University is the best.

My granddaughter attended CA for almost 2 years and the curriculum they employ through Pearson is the WORST!!! Zippo but tests every other day! Brick and mortar never gave this much work!!! NEVER Once again!!!

Connections University response

Hi Valley. We capeesh the two years your granddaughter spent with the states, and we're pitiful to hear our program didn't come across your expectations. Frequent testing in the class of quick checks, quizzes, and tests is beneficial equally it allows teachers (and families) to place students' specific strengths and weaknesses and personalize their student'due south learning. Thank you for your feedback, and nosotros wish your family unit the all-time with her new schoolhouse! ~Bri

Teachers only teach subjects for one hour per week live per subject field. The kids become unlike assignments with each subject on different topics everyday. I have transferred my son to K12 which has teachers teach live everyday with homework assist daily. Daily assignments parallel weekly topics. Pearson is not worth the money as parents will terminate up being the educatee's instructor (full-time). They will nib you for remaining months even if your student doesn't attend anymore.

Equally of this twelvemonth my two kids must do a live lesson everyday, which is a agglomeration of bologna considering I'm my kids teacher and all these live lesson exercise is go far my child way of doing his lessons. Now information technology take twice as long to go lessons and and anything they do in the live lesson isn't even noticed. These teachers are in the fashion of my kids learning and at present we are doing homework till about 8pm.

My 10th grader who has always been an A student started this online school in GA this year and afterwards 1 full month in I have to say some subject areas are adequate structured though I would not say they are well structured. There are others such equally History that was poorly created and executed.

Issue # ane. Apparently a some teachers that are teaching the courses have never read the materials in the class that they look the students to read nor have they taken the tests created for the fabric they are expecting the students pass. I plant this out after speaking with one of the instructors. I have a teaching degree myself and have taught for a total of 8 yrs though not recently and would never expect my students to have and ace a test that I had not taken myself to make sure the questions asked are in line with the material presented.

It is obvious to me that the teachers are non fully at error as they are having to work with over 500 students per teacher at time and teach a variety of courses. The teachers so far are very helpful all the same the content that is presented and the style in which it is presented needs to be reworked in society to create an environment where students tin exercise the work needed to learn the fabric in a successful fashion.

Issue# ii. The teacher educatee instructional time only takes place during a "alive Lesson" for xxx-50 minutes a week, there are then four days a week of i hour per subject field where students can go online and ask questions. Though all "Alive Lessons" are recorded and can be viewed at a later on appointment these lessons are not enough face to face time with students for a child to learn a subject like History or Language. There needs to be daily interaction between students and teachers fifty-fifty if it is in a Zoom Room envir. in society for learners to acquire knowledge in my opinion.

Information technology is my fervent belief that unless your kid is gifted and can just read a text and memorize that info to take a test or yous as a parent can spend viii hours with your child acting as the teacher for all the lessons and so this program will not work for your child. I will say though there are some teachers that do a very good job of education online simply others are solely relying on the material in the online text to impart 98% of the cognition to the students.

I will hopefully accept a ameliorate opinion in the future of this companies educational product but currently they are getting an 'F' from me. More later...Hopefully things improve.
